Tea with Rosemary Dress [Black]
$459.00

This is a limited edition garment from our BLACKWOOD COLLECTION and will be Made on Desire, especially for you, with the gentle touch of a maker's hand.

Walking through the forest surrounded by the most magnificent trees, I felt held, I felt safe.

All around me was a history that I could feel deep within my bones.

I returned to our cottage later that day and it was as though I had awoken in an entirely different time. A time when it would have been perfectly normal to pop across the road to my dear friend ‘Rosemary’, and upon arrival the kettle would be on and the rest of the day would be spent sharing stories, gossiping about the happenings in the village and nibbling our way through jam loaded freshly baked scones.

Tea with Rosemary is a beautifully designed long line dress that can feel as comfortable as a nightie yet has the elegance of a special occasion gown.

The Fureach Top is a heartfelt creation inspired by the Scottish Gaelic word for the act of staying and waiting.

As the breeze gently blows through the tall standing eucalypts, fureach listens: with no need to hurry, no reason to question what is happening, just standing still knowing there is all the time in the world to simply breathe.

This gently flowing A-line top celebrates personal expression, offering a unique opportunity for the wearer to choose from a selection of fabrics and prints that speak to their individuality.

Crafted with care and attention to detail, Fureach embodies a sense of pride in the art of making and creating. It's A-line silhouette flows gracefully, embracing the wearer with comfort softening with every wash. The tie-back feature adds a touch of adaptability, allowing for a custom fit.

The Fureach Top effortlessly adapts to the wearer's unique lifestyle and personality and is a versatile companion for every occasion. Whether worn with jeans for a walk through the forest or paired with a fanciful pair of trousers for a special gallery opening event, The Fureach Top makes no apology for being unique and neither should you.

Embrace your individuality and bring joy to the collective.

Our Story…

In 2011, Leuca Jane Ziemons, a Scottish-born artist and researcher, emigrated to Australia with her husband and young family, where she pursued further art studies in printmaking and textiles, enrolling at Edith Cowan University. It was there that she fully embraced her ancestral love of cloth, a passion deeply rooted in her heritage.

In 2013, Leuca was selected to submit one of her designs to the Fairly Fashionable runway event, organised by, her now friend, Gaelle Beech of Anjelms. It was during this event that she first encountered the term "sustainable fashion," a concept that brought together her love of design, her deep connection to textiles, and her strong values of social justice and the importance of community. This pivotal moment inspired her to align her creative work with these principles.

Melaleuca Rise officially launched as a slow fashion clothing brand in 2017, while Leuca was continuing her studies in Contemporary Fashion and Textiles at ECU. That year, she was invited by Zuhal Kuvan-Mills, director of Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA), to showcase garments from her graduate collection, Nomadic Nostalgia, on the runway.

This opportunity introduced Leuca to a supportive community of designers, models, volunteers and advocates working to reshape the fashion landscape through sustainability, ethical practises and collaboration—a connection that continues to inspire her work.

The name Melaleuca Rise reflects Leuca’s philosophy of living in harmony with nature. Inspired by a homestead she and her husband once owned in Tasmania, it symbolises humanity’s place within the natural world. For Leuca, the Melaleuca trees rising above serve as a reminder that nature is not something to be owned or controlled but something to honour and coexist with.

This ethos informs her vision to create clothing that is cherished, cared for, and passed down through generations, reimagined or creatively reused, and always valued.

Melaleuca Rise is a home for artisanal creativity, where making, mending, and stitch work are celebrated. These practices have always been central to Leuca’s life, no matter where she has lived. Through her multi layered approach to life and work, she seeks to pass on these skills and inspire others to care for textiles, fostering a deeper connection to what we wear.
